Immigration New Zealand is continuing preparations to move Group Visitor and Tour Escort Visitor visa applications onto its enhanced Immigration Online platform, with the transition scheduled for 24 August 2026.

The digital migration is part of Immigration New Zealand’s wider Our Future Services programme, which is designed to create a more integrated, technology-enabled immigration system. The programme uses data, automation and modern risk-management tools to improve application processing, customer communication and operational efficiency.

Under the transition, applications for General Group Visitor Visas, Approved Destination Status group visas, Tour Escort Visitor Visas and certain visitor applications for free-and-independent travellers will be directed automatically to the enhanced system from 24 August. Other visitor visa categories have already moved to the platform, bringing Immigration New Zealand closer to consolidating visitor processing in one digital environment.

Immigration New Zealand said the additional preparation time is being used for comprehensive final testing to support system stability and ensure that application functionality operates as intended. Applicants can continue using the existing system before the transition date, helping reduce disruption for scheduled travel.

The upgraded platform is intended to provide clearer instructions, improved self-service and better visibility of application progress. A further feature being developed for group applications will allow applicants to share application information with other group members and tour-agency staff, potentially reducing duplicated data entry and coordination problems.
